FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What does it mean when you say I have an atlas subluxation?
The atlas (the top bone in the neck) is prone to misalignment more than any other vertebra of the spine. It is a freely movable joint, and with the second vertebra (the axis) provides most of the motion between the head and neck. Every nerve in our body passes through the atlas and interference or nerve irritation at the level of he brain stem can cause countless serious health conditions.

Dr Nygaard will not accept your case unless the objective findings of your case indicate you can helped by chiropractic care.
A proper Chiropractic Examination and Radiographs are the only objective way to determine if someone can be helped in our office. Dr Nygaard never charges for Consultations. Your health is your most valuable resource. You owe it to yourself to get a proper diagnostic evaluation from a competent chiropractor before deciding if it is in your best interest to seek chiropractic care.
How long will it take for me to get better?
Each individual varies. Chiropractic addresses the underlying cause of the problem instead of masking the problem with drugs. The intent of chiropractic is to identify and correct subluxation. Subluxation directly causes pain and countless other health problems. Subluxation has a progressive, destructive impact on the nervous system and overall health. The factors affecting recovery are the:
- extent of damage to the nerves,
- stage of degeneration in the bones and discs
- overall vitality of the patient (age, physical condition, complicating health factors)
- how closely a patient follows treatment recommendations (keeping appointments, following instructions for outside daily activities and doing recommended exercises)
Are X-Rays necessary?
If during your examination you are found to have Atlas Subluxation the answer is, "YES".
Atlas Orthogonal is based upon specific radiographic analysis. Each and every atlas subluxation is unique in terms of the biomechanical distortions that occur within the body and must be analyzed individually for a proper correction to occur. Atlas Orthogonal have specialized extensive post graduate x-ray training. Dr Nygaard will never recommend x-rays unless they are vital to the diagnosis and treatment of your condition.
