Atlas Orthogonal Pulstar Precision Instrument Adjusting - State of the Art Technology

The Stylus adjusting instrument.

A Perfect Compliment to Atlas Orthogonal Care Physical Therapy The timeless principles of chiropractic can be greatly enhanced by using today’s technology. Knowing the time and place for choosing which approach is right for each individual requires years of clinical experience and taking care of patients.

It begins with a hand held adjusting instrument that has an impulse head attached to electronic control sensors. The instrument is connected to a computer with a sophisticated software program. Dr. Nygaard activates the instrument by being in contact with each respective vertebra. Then the instrument senses and measures tissue compliance and spinal motion. The data from the sensors is communicated to the computer and displayed on a screen so Dr. Nygaard can determine exactly what segments of your spine need to be adjusted and in what order.

Dr. Nygaard then uses the instrument to deliver light force adjustments with rapid fire percussion. This modern technology provides an adjustment force that generally ranges between 10 and 20 pounds. Patients describe the experience as quite relaxing! (Some chiropractic adjusting techniques can use up to 40 to 50 pounds of force to accomplish the same results.) No two adjustments are the same even for the same patient.

Pulstar Instrument

The Pulstar stores the information and at regular intervals can display the patient’s progress. Dr. Nygaard describes the Pulstar as “an excellent diagnostic tool” that when combined with his knowledge of each patient, plus his intuitive direction “can provide impressive results.” “Some patients really love the way the Pulstar feels during an adjustment and have come to prefer the technology as much as hands-on-care,” says Dr. Nygaard.

Dr. Nygaard prides himself in knowing how to combine hands-on care with the latest in computerized diagnostics and state of the art light force adjusting techniques. Pulstar is the latest in chiropractic technology offered at Atlas Family Chiropractic.

Technology For Nervous System Evaluation

Atlas Family Chiropractic uses the ”Insight Subluxation Station” , the latest technology available for evaluation of muscular and nervous system imbalance. Two computerized evaluations are performed to evaluate the nervous system functioning.

You will receive an easy to read print-out.
Surface Electromyography (sEMG):

The sEMG measures the quality, quantity, and symmetry of muscle tension and spasm by evaluating the electrical activity of muscles. Because nerves control your muscles, Subluxation disturbs overall nerve function, causing an abnormal amount of electrical current to flow to the musculature.

Thermal Scan

This advanced tool measures body temperature symmetry by evaluating skin temperatures. Your skin is the largest organ of your body and the blood vessels act as your thermostat. The blood vessels are controlled by the Autonomic Nerve System that regulates organ and gland function. This information, taken in concert with the history and clinical findings, is useful in the assessment of the patient, and as an outcome assessment of the beneficial changes that result from chiropractic care. Patients receive a color printout of each examination, which increases their understanding of the overall balance of their nerve system.

If you’ve been to a chiropractor before and prefer to be adjusted in a particular way, let Dr. David Nygaard know. We want you to relax, enjoy and fully benefit from your chiropractic care.

Dr. David Asks some important questions of interest to Asheville residents - Chiropractor Asheville Dr. David Asks...

What's the difference between sick care and health care?
Sick care is largely about relieving or suppressing symptoms. Health care is about improving performance. While sick care is about how you feel, health care is about how you function. Sick care is what you do to treat an obvious problem, and health care is what you do to avoid the problem and advance your well-being.
Why do so many drugs require a prescription?
Because they can be dangerous? I chose a chiropractic career specifically because it avoids artificial means of pain relief. Our Asheville chiropractic practice attracts health-conscious families that prefer a safe and natural solution. Ready to get started? Call our office today.
